In my opinion, Hecla Junction is the best campground at AHRA. You can spend the day picnicking along the river, watching kayakers pass by and rafters taking their boats out of the water. You can hike along the river’s edge, back to secluded areas with incredible views of the Collegiate Range. Then, when it’s time for bed, the soothing sound of the Arkansas River will lull you into a peaceful slumber.
